Wednesday, December 31, 2014, 11 Elaphebolion, dedicated to Dionysus, first day of the City Dionysia, notable for the plays being presented, Ellis Island opens 1890, first New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square 1904, death of Emperor Commodus 192 AD, 11th night of the Waxing Moon, in Taurus, overseen by the 28th Decan, Themeso, ruled by Jupiter, starting in the 4th Mansion of the Moon, Al Deberan/ Aldeberan, good for playing the margins, shaking things up, then moving into the 5th Mansion of the Moon Al Haq’a/Almices, good for healing, building, children, the return of lost things, around 9:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mercury at 7:20 A.M., and last 46.4 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Sun at 4:37 P.M., lasting 73.6 minutes, Sun in Capricorn, Mercury in Capricorn, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Sagittarius. And so, we slink into the New Year. With the Moon being square Mars and Jupiter in the evening, there’s not much energy and exuberance to spare as Midnight approaches. Try to not over-compensate, keep things small, and look forward rather than dwelling on past disaapointments. One’s magic should be focused on creating new opportunities.

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Saturday, December 27, 2014, 7 Elaphebolion, dedicated to Apollo, birthday of Johannes Kepler 1571, of Louis Pasteur 1822, of Marlene Dietrich 1901, death of Steven Austin 1836, of Gustave Eiffel 1923, 7th night of the Waxing Moon, in Pisces, going Void of Course 10:44 A.M. through the rest of the day, overseen by the 28th Decan, Themeso, ruled by Jupiter, starting in the 27th Mansion of the Moon Al Mu’hir/Algorf, good for material gain, health, overcoming enemies, and aid to the desperate, then entering the 28th Mansion of the Moon Al Risha Batn/Arrexhe, good for increase, travel, love, bad for cherished things, around 3:00 A.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Saturn at 7:18 A.M., and last 46.25 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Mercury at 4:33 P.M., lasting 73.75 minutes, Sun in Capricorn, Mercury in Capricorn, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Sagittarius. This should be another day of clear sailing, the Moon being sextile Mercury and Venus. With this combination, it would be reasonable to expect friendly and open communication, and to provide the same to others. It does seem we can all get along, at least today. It’s a good day to use one’s magicks to increase the bonds of affection.

Friday, December 19, 2014

Friday, December 19, 2014, 28 Anthesterion, dedicated to Hekate in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Saturn, also dedicated to Ops, Plenty, consort of Saturn, 3rd night of the Saturnalia, Benjamin Franklin begins publication of “Poor Richard’s Almanac” 1732, Charles Dickens publishes “A Christmas Carol” 1843, Dalai Lama flees Tibet 1950, 13th night of the Waning Moon, 1st night of the Dark of the Moon, starting in Scorpio, then going Void of Course from 4:11 P.M. to 4:54 P.M., then entering Sagittarius, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, starting in the 18th Mansion of the Moon, Al Kalb/Alkab, good for plots and revenge, then entering the 19th Mansion, Al Shaulah/ Exaula, good for all defensive and aggressive work, just before 1:30 A.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Venus at 7:15 A.M., and last 46.25 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Mars at 4:30 P.M., lasting 73.75 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Capricorn, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. All signs point towards a day for excess. It should be a swell party, but the hangover might be murder. What else do you expect when the Moon is square Jupiter (which always promotes exuberant excess) and trine Saturn, while under the sway of the 27th Decan, during the Saturnalia? No matter your nature, its time to party. One’s magicks can be invested with a certain careless or cruel streak, so be cautious.

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Thursday, December 18, 2014, 27 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Saturn, 2nd day of the Saturnalia, first collection of Mother Goose rhymes published 1719, birthday of writer Hector Munro (Saki) 1870, of Joseph Stalin 1878, of Keith Richards 1943, 12th night of the Waning Moon, in Scorpio, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, 17th Mansion of the Moon, Al Iklil/Alichil, good for positive work on plans and situations already in motion, and for establishing new, powerful connections, then moving into the 18th Mansion of the Moon, Al Kalb/Alkab, good for plots and revenge, around 1:00 A.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Jupiter at 7:14 A.M., and last 46.2 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Moon at 4:29 P.M., lasting 73.8 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Capricorn, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. This can be a somewhat emotional day; the Moon is sextile Venus and square Mars before sunrise. For some, this can lead to greater empathy for the situations that others find themselves in, while for others it will be a day of sniping over slights, real or imagined. Don’t you love the holidays. In general, expect one’s emotions to be closer to the surface today. The Moon being in the 18th Mansion all day can lead one’s magickal activities towards evening the score, thwarting rivals.

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 26 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Saturn, start of the Saturnalia; the feet of Saturn were unbound, a special feast then held in his honor, which was then followed by general merry-making, a relaxing of restrictions on the mingling of different social classes, candle lighting and gift giving. Pope Clement VII establishes the Inquisition, 1526, first sustained flight by Orvile Wright 1903, nuclear fission first demonstrated 1938, Today is the 11th night of the Waning Moon, starting in Libra, then going Voif of Course from 12:40 A.M. to 9:52 A.M., then entering Scorpio, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, the whole of the day in the 17th Mansion of the Moon, Al Iklil/Alichil, good for positive work on plans and situations already in motion, and for establishing new, powerful connections Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mercury at 7:14 A.M., and last 46.2 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Sun at 4:29 P.M., lasting 73.8 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Capricorn, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. We should have a nice change from the last few days today, with the flow of events moving in a more positive direction. With the Moon sextile the Sun and Mercury during the morning, and trine Neptune in the evening, it should be the perfect day to be out and about, in the company of others. Feel free to utilize one’s magicks to dissipate the miasma still lingering around us from the last few days.

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 25 Anthesterion, no particular dedication, Oliver Cromwell made Lord Protector 1653, Boston Tea Party 1773, birthday of Ludwig Van Beethoven 1770, of Jane Austen 1775, of Arthur C. Clarke 1917, 10th night of the Waning Moon, in Libra, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, starting in the 16th Mansion of the Moon, Al Zubana/Azubene, good for dealing with hindrances and reversals, entering tomorrow at 1:00 A.M. into the 17th Mansion of the Moon, Al Iklil/Alichil, good for positive work on plans and situations already in motion, and for establishing new, powerful connections Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mars at 7:13 A.M., and last 46.2 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Saturn at 4:29 P.M., lasting 73.8 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury starts in Sagittarius, moves into Capricorn 10:53 P.M., Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Mental and emotional disruptions seem to be the norm this holiday season. The Moon is square Pluto and in opposition to Uranus just after midnight, which is almost certain to continue pushing one’s doubts and concerns front and center.the lyrics to the song “Is That All There Is?” certainly come to mind as we move towards sunrise. In the evening, the Moon is sextile Jupiter retrograde, which only increases our need to sift through past events and to scramble for ways to alleviate what seem to be impossible relationships. Sorry, no tidings of comfort and joy are coming to us today. All we can do is push on through, this will pass. Do use one’s magicks to fan the glimmers of calm and contentment as you find them.

Monday, December 15, 2014

Monday, December 15, 2014, 24 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Consus, who oversees the harvest and it’s storage places, Andromeda galaxy first seen, through a telescope 1612, Bill of Rights ratified 1791, birthday of Nero 37 AD, 9th night of the Waning Moon, in Libra, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, starting in the 14th Mansion (Al Simak); good for promoting love, health, bad for land travel, good for other modes, then passing into the 15th Mansion (Al Ghafar/Algafra); a good time for treasure hunting and sleuthing, causing friction between people, dealing a blow, around 1:00 A.M., finally entering the 16th Mansion of the Moon, Al Zubana/Azubene, good for dealing with hindrances and reversals around 11:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with the Moon at 7:12 A.M., and last 46.33 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Venus at 4:28 P.M., lasting 73.66 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. The frustrations of the last two days may very well have pent up to a breaking point, and the combination of Mars being trine the Moon while Venus is square it allows for ample opportunity for them to be vented. Even if you’re feeling stable, it doesn’t mean that all those around you are equally well balanced. If you’re feeling rage, try to direct it towards appropriate targets. Don’t you just love the holiday season? One’s magick can easily take a similarly aggressive attack.

Sunday, December 14, 2014

Sunday, December 14, 2014, 23 Anthesterion, dedicated to Zeus Melichios in the Athenian calander (the well-disposed). Here Zeus was honored as a fertility spirit of the Earth, in the chthonic form of a snake. This was the Diasia festival, animal sacrifice being made to him in the form of animal shaped honey cakes, as a rule. This was one of Zeus’s more popular manifestations in Attica. Mary Stuart becomes Queen of Scotland at age 6, 1542, Marine 2 flys past Venus 1962, DNA first assembled in a test tube 1967, birthday of Nostradamus 1503, of Tycho Brahe 1546, of Shirley Jackson 1916, death of Vlad the Impaler 1476, of George Washington 1799, of Prince Albert 1861. Today is the 8th night of the Waning Moon (Last Quarter), starting in Virgo, then going Void of Course from 9:11 P.M. to 11:04 P.M., then entering Libra, overseen by the 27th Decan, Chenene, ruled by Saturn, the whole of the day in the 14th Mansion (Al Simak); good for promoting love. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with the Sun at 7:12 A.M., and last 46.33 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Jupiter at 4:28 P.M., lasting 73.66 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Not the easiest day, as a lack of distractions allow one to dwellon the things that never happened, missed opportunities and the like. This is often a tendency in the last quarter, and it is intensified by the Moon being trin Jupiter retrograde while Venus is trine Neptune. This combination can dredge up the “would haves” and “should haves” in our lives. Perhaps it’s best that the Moon squares Mercury in the afternoon, making it difficult to explain to others our annoyance. We should all snap out of it after 9:00 P.M., when duty calls, in the form of the Moon being trine Saturn. All in all, this trip down memory lane is more of a distraction than an opportunity for forward movement. With all the distractions, you might want to avoid your magickal toolbox today.

Thursday, December 11, 2014

Thursday, December 11, 2014, 20 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites the day of the Agonalia, Mayflower Pilgrims land at Plymouth Rock 1620, Louis XVI put on trial 1792, Bernard Madoff arrested 2008, a sacrifice of a Ram to the guardian deities of the State, 5th night of the Waning Moon, in Leo, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, the whole of the day in the 11th Mansion of the Moon, Al Zubrah/Azobra, which is good for reversing negative opinions and judgments. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Jupiter at 7:09 A.M., and last 46.6 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Moon at 4:28 P.M., lasting 73.4 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Now, aren’t you glad you took it slow yesterday? Today brings wide open spaces in which to run up a win, or at least to appear that you have it together. Appearances matter, and the Moon being trine the Sun and Mercury during the day, and conjunct Jupiter in the evening, allows us to put on a good show, convincing to others (though not necessarily to oneself). With Jupiter being retrograde, one’s “gains” are somewhat illusory, but we’ll take the day into the plus column nonetheless. Utilize one’s magicks to bring more joy to all and sundry.

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Wednesday, December 10, 2014, 19 Anthesterion, no particular dedication, Isaac newton delivers his paper on the motion of heavenly bodies, “De Motu Corporum”, 1684, Edward VIII abdicates 1936, death of Averroes 1198 AD, of Algernon Blackwood 1951, 4th night of the Waning Moon, in Leo, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 10th Mansion of the Moon, Al Jabhah/Algebhah good for love and friendship, thwarting criminal activities and evil intentions, then entering the 11th Mansion of the Moon, Al Zubrah/Azobra, which is good for reversing negative opinions and judgments, around 6:30 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mercury at 7:08 A.M., and last 46.66 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Sun at 4:28 P.M., lasting 73.33 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus starts in Sagittarius, then enters Capricorn 11:42 A.M., Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Best to take it slow today. On the bright side, Venus’s move into Capricorn assists one in being more grounded and clear-headed about one’s personal relationships. This balances out the Leo Moon being in opposition to Mars, which can lead to a combative position in one’s interactions. However, there is also a tendency today to keep pushing while already run down, and so, one should focus on one’s health, as it’s easy to come down with a “bug” today. Magickaly, it’s a good day for most all positive work, with an emphasis on “time release”; that is to say, spellwork that effects change over time, almost inperceptibly. Use a light hand.

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Tuesday, December 09, 2014, 18 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Gaia, Belisarius retakes Rome from the Ostrogoths 536 AD, Hugh Bewitt declares himself free of original sin, and so is banished from Massachusett Bay Colony 1640, birthday of John Milton 1608, 3rd night of the Waning Moon, starting in Cancer, then going Void of Course from 7:14P.M. to 10:13 P.M., then entering Leo, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 9th Mansion of the Moon Al Tarf/ Atarf, good for baneful and destructive forms of magic, then entering the 10th Mansion of the Moon, Al Jabhah/Algebhah good for love and friendship, thwarting criminal activities and evil intentions, just before 1:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mars at 7:07 A.M., and last 46.66 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Saturn at 4:27 P.M., lasting 73.33 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter retrograde in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. As the day moves into the night, and the Moon enters Leo, today is defined by the Moon being trine Saturn at 7:14 P.M. if you needed to be reminded of one’s physical and mental limitations, that need will be answered today. The best way to positively integrate this information is to concentrate on what can do, rather than worrying about impossibilities (you still won’t have what it takes to be a sports hero; but then, it was never your desire). This can be a time to perceive one’s strengths rather than fritter away time and resources pursuing the unreasonable. One’s magicks can be utilized to illuminate the correct paths, to uncover the best purpose.

Monday, December 8, 2014

Monday, December 08, 2014, 17 Anthesterion, 2nd night of the Waning Moon, in Cancer, Immaculate Conception of Mary promulgated by the Roman Church 1854, U.S. enters WWII 1941, birthday of Horace 65 BCE, of Mary Stuart 1542 AD, of George Melies 1861, murder of John Lennon 1980, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 8th Mansion of the Moon, Al Nathra/Ahaathra, governing positive aspects of love and happiness, but not advantageous in legal matters, then entering the 9th Mansion of the Moon Al Tarf/ Atarf, a time for baneful and destructive forms of magic, around 11:15 A.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with the Moon at 7:07 A.M., and last 46.66 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Venus at 4:27 P.M., lasting 73.33 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter in Leo, goes retrograde 3:41 P.M., Saturn in Scorpio. And so, the great sorting out begins, as Jupiter goes retrograde this afternoon. In combination with the Moon being conjunct Mercury and square Uranus, one’s dissatisfactions can move from being vague feelings to being a concrete list and action plan. I know, another task during the holiday season, but there you have it. It’s not that you need to get it all out in the open today, but it’s a good day to begin sorting out what you want, what you expect out of one’s relationships (both personal and professional), and to begin the process of transformation. Have a care with one’s magicks today, there is the temptation towards extreme actions to untangle trivial matters.

Saturday, December 6, 2014

Saturday, December 06, 2014, 15 Anthesterion, dedicated to Hekate, 1st “Encyclopedia Britannica” published 1768, 13th Amendment ratified 1865, first sound recording made by Thomas Edison 1877, birth of Dion Fortune 1890, death of St. Nicholas 343 AD, Full Moon in Gemini, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the the 6th Mansion of the Moon Al Han’ah/Athaya, good for stirring things up, promoting cruel and destructive acts, agricultural disasters, then entering the 7th Mansion of the Moon, Al Dhira/Aldirah, good for success when contending against authority figures, and for acts promoting gain, love, comfort, around 1:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Saturn at 7:05 A.M., and last 46.9 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Mercury at 4:28 P.M., lasting 73.1 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Aquarius, Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. A tricky day. Ambition and a desire to be seen in the best possible light runs high, as the day is framed by the Moon being sextile Uranus in the morning and Jupiter in the evening, and the emotional highs and lows that are part of such a pursuit are pumped up by the Full Moon of course. The one impediment is the Moon also being in opposition to mercury, making it difficult to get one’s point across clearly, so its best to not go full throttle on your particular path to glory. At least we move out from under the 6th Mansion of the Moon, and one’s magicks can be utilized to lessen the effects of mercury today.

Friday, December 5, 2014

Friday, December 05, 2014, 14 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calender, in Roman rites a day dedicated to Faunus, Charlemagne becomes King of the Franks 771 AD, Columbus discovers the island of Hispaniola 1492, start of the California Gold Rush 1848, birthday of Werner Heisenberg 1901, death of Geradus Mercator 1594, of Mozart 1791, of Colin Wilson 2013, 14th night of the Waxing Moon, starting in Taurus, then going Void of Course from 1:45 to 5:27 A.M., then entering Gemini, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the the 5th Mansion of the Moon Al Haq’a/Almices, good for healing, building, children, the return of lost things, then entering the 6th Mansion of the Moon, Al Han’ah/Athaya, a day for stirring things up, promoting cruel and destructive acts, agricultural disasters, around 1:00 P.M. The watchwords for today are patience and caution; with them it should be possible to ride out today’s combination of the Moon being in opposition to Saturn while in the 6th Mansion which can make the whole of the day appear stagnant and not particularly attractive. The Moon squaring Neptune in the early afternoon promotes escapist flights of fancy, at the minimum, which will hopefully alleviate some of the anxiety, though it will also trigger our favorite coping mechanisms. One’s magicks can easily take a dark turn today, as it’s so easy to lash out.

Thursday, December 4, 2014

Thursday, December 04, 2014, 13 Anthesterion, 3rd and final day of the Anthestia, dedicated to Dionysus and Hermes of the Underworld, an offering of cooked grains made to those beneath the earth, General Washington says farewell to his troops 1783, “Marie Celeste” discovered abandoned 1872, Pioneer 10 reaches Jupiter 1973, birth of Crazy Horse 1840, death of Omar Khayyam 1123, of Thomas Hobbes 1679, of Prince Hall 1807, 13th night of the Waxing Moon, in Taurus, overseen by the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 4th Mansion of the Moon, Al Deberan/ Aldeberan, good for playing the margins, shaking things up, then moving into the 5th Mansion of the Moon Al Haq’a/Almices, good for healing, building, children, the return of lost things, around 2:30 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Jupiter at 7:03 A.M., and last 47.1 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Moon at 4:28 P.M., lasting 72.9 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars starts in Capricorn, then enters Aquarius 6:57 P.M., Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Ah, love of friends and family, and what we will do to foster them. There’s quite a bit of affection in the air today, and it seems those bonds of affection may be best served by going into debt. But seriously, today is bounded by Venus being trine Jupiter while the Moon is square to it, which can lead us all into loosening the purse strings in pursuit of admiration. By all means, open your heart, but keep your wits about you. One’s magicks (as well as one’s bank account) may be employed to manifest one’s desires.

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Wednesday, December 03, 2014, 12 Anthesterion, dedicated to Dionysus in the Athenian calender, 2nd day of the Anthesteria, Choes, the sharing out and ritual drinking of the new wine, in Roman rites the rites of the Bona Dea were held, mysteries from which all men were barred, Thomas Herriot introduces the potato to England 1586, death of Emperor Diocletian 311 AD, 12th night of the Waxing Moon, starting Void of Course in Aries, then entering Taurus 12:15 A.M., overseen by the to the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 3rd Mansion of the Moon, Al Thurayya/Alzoraya, good for career support, general good luck, and to help or hinder judicial matters, moving the 4th Mansion of the Moon, Al Deberan / Aldeberan, good for playing the margins, shaking things up, just before 3:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mercury at 7:01 A.M., and last 47.25 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with the Sun at 4:28 P.M., lasting 72.75 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. While this may not be the ideal day to act on one’s dreams, it is a good day to dream them. At the very least, it’s a day in which one’s unconscious comes to the fore, with the Taurus Moon being sextile Neptune, binging one’s insights and perceptions to the fore. It’s a good day for divination work, and for seeing far. You might wish to put together some dream pillows. These do not have to be “pillow” size, but can be the size of a drawer sachet. Fill with moss, Wormwood, Mugwort, or Yarrow. Add in Lavender, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Thyme (as herbs). Finish with Camphor, Jasmine, and Frankincense (oils, just a drop or two). Place under pillows, and go to bed. For the serious dreamer, have a notebook and pen at hand, to record your visions.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

Tuesday, December 02, 2014, 11 Anthesterion, dedicated to Dionysus, first day of the 3 days of the Anthesteria, the Pithoisia, “Opening of the winejars’, Napoleon crowned Emperor 1804, first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction produced at the University of Chicago 1942, EPA created 1970, death of St Francis Xavier 1552, of the Maequis de Sade 1814,11th night of the Waxing Moon, in Aries, going Void of Course from 9:42 P.M. throught the rest of the evening, first overseen by the 25th Decan, Eregbuo, ruled by Mercury, the oversight moving around 5:30 A.M. to the 26th Decan, Sagou, ruled by the Moon, starting in the 2nd Mansion of the Moon, Al Botein/Alboitan, good for finding treasure, capturing things, exciting situations, achieving things, then entering the 3rd Mansion of the Moon, Al Thurayya/Alzoraya, good for career support, general good luck, and to help or hinder judicial matters, around 5:00 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with Mars at 7:01 A.M., and last 47.25 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Saturn at 4:28 P.M., lasting 72.75 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. Today is primed to make all of us the good family member, neighbor, or friend, thanks to the combination of the Moon being trine both Venus and Jupiter before Noon. Of course, some of the outreach may be for the cameras, as it were, but this is only to be expected when Jupiter inflates one’s self-importance a bit. The result is what counts. Try to not promise all possible aid to everyone, or you will run yourself ragged; the Moon squaring Mars around 9:45 P.M. can deplete one’s inner resources and weaken your constitution. Magickally, the day is set up to engage in most all positive work. Sagou is portrayed as a seated woman, her face covered, weeping. This Decan oversees difficulties and sorrows. Three days marked the Anthestia festival, which took it name from the flower wreaths (and their first wine) being presented to 3 year olds. The “blood” of Dionysus was taken out of its fermentation jars, on Day 11, being shared out equally to be drunk by all the citizens from individual jugs, in silence on Day 12. This new wine carried the taint of sharing in a polluting (human) sacrifice. All the temples except for a more rural one of Dionysus were sealed shut during this period, and no other sacrifices could be offered. During this period, the spirits of the departed were felt to be present in the city, and were warded off by chewing Hawthorn leaves and pitch being applied to the doorposts. On day 13, meals of cooked grains and vegetables were prepared and deposited to Hermes of the Underworld, and an offering of wheat, honey, and water were poured in a chasm. As a holiday, it functioned in a way similar to Samhain and the time just preceding Passover. From a magical standpoint, it shares with Samhain in being a time when the barriers between realms is thin, thus allowing easier passage and communication.

Monday, December 1, 2014

Monday, December 01, 2014, 10 Anthesterion, no particular dedication in the Athenian calendar, in Roman rites dedicated to Juno, Neptune and Pietas, Hans Christian Anderson publishes his first book of Fairy Tales 1835, first appeanance of Sherlock Holmes, “A Study in Scarlet” 1887, death of Aleister Crowley 1947, overseen by the 25th Decan, Eregbuo, ruled by Mercury, 10th night of the Waxing Moon, in Aries, starting in the 1st Mansion of the Moon, Al Sharatain/Alnath, which is good for dealing with complex systems, regulations, technical matters, then entering the 2nd Mansion of the Moon, Al Botein/Alboitan, good for finding treasure, capturing things, exciting situations, achieving things, around 6:45 P.M. Planetary Hours of the Day begin with the Moon at 7:00 A.M., and last 47.4 minutes. Planetary Hours of the Night commence with Venus at 4:29 P.M., lasting 72.6 minutes, Sun in Sagittarius, Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus in Sagittarius, Mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio. There should be more than enough get up and go to get up and go, despite the reversals one may have experienced the last few days. One’s focus ought to improve before sunrise with the Moon being sextile Mercury, followed by the Moon being trine the Sun, which should dispel any lingering lethargy. This is followed by Mars being sextile Saturn around 2:00 P.M., making the rest of the day all about demonstrating one’s abilities and shouldering responsibility. While all of this is not glamorous, the sense of competency and accomplishment should be reward enough. One’s magicks are best devoted to creating secure alliances and removing blockages to one’s career path.
